What Kolto Labs is
Kolto Labs builds tools for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
kotor-formats is a set of shared Rust libraries for the games' file formats. kq lets you query a game install from the command line. Both are released.
The name comes from kolto, the healing medium harvested in the oceans of Manaan. The games are more than twenty years old, and people still mod them.
Mission
Keep the games moddable for the next twenty years.
Ship tools you can trust with your files. Load a file, save it unchanged, get the same bytes back. Parsers are strict by default and lenient only when you ask.
How we work
- Each released project has one repository, under github.com/kolto-labs.
- Bugs and feature requests go in public issues.
Standing on prior work
The games never shipped with public documentation or an official modding toolset. Modders mapped the engine themselves, and that work produced TSLPatcher, KotOR Tool, DeNCS and two decades of mods. We build on it and credit it.
